The explorer Captain James Cook describes Fiordland as "entirely of barren rocky mountains." This area in the South Island of New Zealand has a wealth of history covering nearly two centuries, in which people such as explorers, sealers, navigators and surveyors have visited the area.
The landscape is dramatic and unforgettable, and I have based the first four paintings in Landscape 2 on the various aspects of Fiordland, New Zealand's largest National Park.
