An enjoyment of colour, texture and form, are the necessary pre-requisites in painting the still life genre. With the exception of the figure studies, all paintings are based on objects to hand in my studio. I have used structure and overlapping planes in building compositions which have rhythmn and relatedness of one object to another. Still life studies offer the artist an opportunity to explore spatial concepts using objects which can be placed where desired. Much richness can be gained in paintings of the interior.
