Music, dance, literature and theatre influenced me when painting these works. Tableaux are a favourite genre, where I can combine figures to narrate a story. All are essentially based on an ideal. Themes include dance, fantasy, biblical studies, mother and child, renaissance, classical Rome and the Etruscans, the family and metaphysical works. All include an impressionistic style and in some, such as "The Blessing" I have used a series of glazes to acheive the effect of transparency.
