Abstraction is the exact opposite of a literal photographic translation of an original scene or idea. Instead, only the essential characteristics of the work are emphasised.
In some of these works, I have used some aspects of the landscape as a basis for abstraction. Horizontal panels simplify the design through divisions of colour and tone. Interspersed with these elements are figurative details which describe the plane and topography of the land.
