Origin
The Coromandel Ranges were formed in the
Miocene Age 500million years ago. Rugged and mysterious, the range
is 90 miles long; formed from greywacke rocks; and consists of
a skyline of extinct volcanoes, bordered on each side by a sandy
coastline. In this painting Castle Rock stands at the back of
the ridge in the centre. Dramatic and unspoiled, the Coromandel
Ranges are an inspirational haven for all artists. |
