This view of the Kawhia hills was captured from the roadside. It was amazingly, a perfect vista, looking down and across the valley.

The special qualities of this area, are the peace, harmony and symmetry of the region, plus the undulating rhythm of the hills.

The gentle draped effect is common to this part of the rolling hills which surrounds Kawhia Harbour, on the West Coast of the North Island. Raglan and Kawhia were settled in the latter half of the 19th century - settlement has not altered the special scenic attractions of Kawhia.
