This area near Warkworth is located in the Mahurangi Harbour. The topography, light, and general atmosphere is similar to that of the Coromandel Peninsular. The contrast between the hills, sea and sky was especially vivid on the day I was there. I have used an impressionistic technique to convey texture - one has the feeling that this part of New Zealand is dramatic, unspoiled and slightly rugged, as in the Coromandel.
