Origin
Lake Manapouri in Fiordland National Park is the deepest known lake in New Zealand, extending 270 metres below sea level. The ridge in the middle distance is known as the Cathedral Peaks. This view shows the rugged landforms of Southern Fiordland, and the contrasts in colour of the various volcanic rock forms.
