Origin
Mt Tutoko is a multifaceted peak, as shown here in my painting. The highest in the Darran Ranges in Fiordland, it rises to 9,042 feet above sea level and is surrounded by a rainforest and wilderness areas, making access to the peak technically difficult.

Adjacent, is Mount Madeline, a perfect conical shape, at the top rear of this image. It is thought that Mt Tutoko was named after a Maori chief, but this cannot be proven.
