Of all the flowers, the rose is perhaps
the most perfectly designed and classically formed flower for the
artist to paint and draw. However, the floribunda rose is different
- the textures, petal forms, abundance and variety of colours within
the one plant, requires a different approach; one of informality,
life, vigour, movement and colour. I felt an impressionistic
approach was needed, also a rapid and confident execution of the
work, as I had to convey the absolute breathing presence of
this flower. The title "Rosabunda" is my own, and is not a
particular variety of rose. |
