Origin
This contemporary work celebrates maternity in a New Zealand setting. It combines five different mother and child images into a montage, one image overlaying another. Each working sketch of a mother and her child was originally drawn over a period of about five years. The idea of developing a montage using some of these images then became a reality.

For the artist, each session was a privilege, though each sketch had to be as accurate as possible, to capture essential movement and expressions of the infants, and the bond between mother and child.
