Origin
The art of the baroque and rococo era, from the sixteenth to the eighteenth centuries, were my inspiration for this work; the "painting in the clouds", of a prophet warning his disciple of a future event. In the art of the baroque, many ceiling frescoes were painted in Europe, - the works of Gian Battista Tiepolo, Veronese and Pietro da Cortona are some examples.

In my work, painted in oil on board, I have included the decorative figures of winged cherubs, and a garland of flowers. I enjoyed painting these details, and employed some of the characteristics of the baroque era - a devotional and theatrical style of painting, using an exuberant, colourful approach with a touch of romance - an escape into the realms of my imagination.
