Origin
I have combined three genres of interior, landscape and the figure in " The Anniversary. " During the late renaissance period in sixteenth century Europe, family portraits were painted to celebrate a family occasion, particularly during the Tudor period in England. The above work touches upon the Gothic convention of the Tudor style, though the entire work is imaginary, and the landscape is idealised.

Everything in this era had it's time and place of importance, and each member of the family knew to which part of society they belonged. The family dog is included in this family portrait and, strangely enough, the animals seemed to know what was expected of them for the occasion.
