Ballet
has a timeless and ethereal quality. For this work, I used a dance
sequence from a modern, dramatic
ballet called "Fall River Legend." I play a video
tape, and after selecting a dance sequence, I "freeze" or pause the
video and quickly sketch the figure, forming my own interpretation
of the image for the painting.
