Origin
"A Window on the Pacific" could be another title for "Pacific Bloom", where the bud of a lotus flower or rose signifies the presence of a youthful society from Oceania or the South Seas where the inhabitants include the cultures of Polynesia, Europe and Asia.

The painting is a contemporary work which incorporates formal elements of Maori art and decorative iconic motifs and designs of Pacific Island tapa. The former is striking and bold in character. I have used the reds, black,and browns of the Polynesian culture against a background of pale blue.

The work is very much a symbolic representation derived from European and Polynesian influences; the koru designs are intricate and ornate, representing the uncurling of a New Zealand fern frond.
