In this painting, all spatial areas, including the background and the model, are considered as an entity unto themselves.

The curvilinear aspects of the model, and the draperies on which she is seated, shows a contemporary approach, a continuous flow of line from the back to thigh; and to the angle of her left arm, which, in a circular movement, links and continues up the elongated right arm.

The squareness of the window contrasts with the sculpted body shape, providing a geometrical balance to the whole composition.
