Origin
When visiting Sydney, Australia for the first time, my impressions were of a huge cosmopolitan city. This painting is based on what I remembered and on photographs I took in the district of Kings Cross.

It was lively and positive, a shoppers paradise, with a great variety of people from all walks of life strolling along the main streets. The colonial buildings with their verandahs, the paved streets and beautiful landscaping all melded together into a contemporary and colourful scene.

This work is not from a strictly observational point of view, but is partly imaginary and includes everything I loved about the area; colour, design, light, an animal and further up the street, a mother and child.
