Although the Waikato farming area in the main is used for dairy cows, I have a special love for small holdings with sheep and lambs. Farmland here is rich, textural and idyllic – the ground is mostly flat with slight rolling hills. It is the differing greens, purples and brown colours in the landscape which give the Waikato a special glow and tranquillity.
The group of sheep, a tractor, scattered farm buildings with groves of trees and rolling hills, form the basis for this work. The greens are viridian, sap, and chrome green, set against the blues, violet and indigo of the surrounding hills.
