Origin
"Egyptian painting has been renowned for its symmetry and depictions of people "in profile". I wanted to experience these two aspects of Egyptian art, and so I have selected a god, Osiris, and another who is the Goddess Maat. The third figure is one of the two wives of Osiris.

Egyptians in the ancient world, dating back to 3000 BC, believed in life after death, or resurrection, if the deceased was worthy enough. The paintings on the walls of temples and tombs ensured the continuity of life and the universe.

Osiris was the ultimate judge and god of the Dead and the Afterlife. The figure of Osiris was taken from a vignette from a New Kingdom papyrus, between 1196-1070 BC.

Maat was the symbol of truth, harmony and justice; she represented the cosmic order. In her hair, she wears the feather of truth. She carries an Ankh, which is the Egyptian cross of life and is regarded as a universal life-charm."
